How to Use
Apply to dry hair — it gives noticeably better gray coverage than applying to wet hair.
1. Prepare
Start with dry hair and put on the gloves provided. If your hair is oily or has styling residue, wash and dry it first.
2. Lather
Pump a generous amount into your gloved hands and rub them together into a rich, creamy lather.
3. Apply & wait
Massage evenly from roots to tips, starting with the grayest areas, until every strand is coated. Leave for 10–15 minutes.
4. Rinse
Rinse thoroughly with lukewarm water until the water runs clear, then dry as normal.
Tip: applying a little moisturiser around the hairline before you start helps prevent staining the skin. For stubborn or coarse gray, leave the product on for up to 20 minutes on your next application.
What's Inside
Five botanical extracts alongside the color system, in a formula made without ammonia, sulfates or parabens.
Fo-Ti Extract
A root extract (Polygonum multiflorum) long used in traditional Chinese hair preparations.
Black Sesame Extract
A seed extract that has been used in traditional hair and skin formulations for centuries.
Ginseng Extract
A root extract that contributes antioxidants to the formula.
Ganoderma Lucidum
Reishi mushroom extract, a staple of traditional tonic preparations.
Saponin Extract
A naturally foaming plant compound — part of what gives the shampoo its lather.
These botanicals are conditioning ingredients. The color comes from the dye system in the formula — we make no claim that the extracts change your hair's own pigment or affect hair growth.
Black — FAQ
It is formulated for full gray coverage. Coarse or particularly resistant gray sometimes needs the longer end of the timing — leave it on for up to 20 minutes on the next application if the first result isn't even.
Use it as often as you need to keep your color consistent — most people re-apply when roots start to show. Because it cleanses and conditions as it colors, it slots into your normal shower routine rather than replacing it.
Wear the gloves provided and rinse until the water runs clear. Applying moisturiser around the hairline first helps prevent skin staining. As with any dark hair colorant, use an old towel for the first few washes.
Black gives the deepest result and reads closest to naturally dark hair. If you'd prefer a warmer, softer contrast, Dark Brown is the gentler option.
